It was in the early sixties that employees of Dorr Woolen who sewed asked for a shop where they would be able to purchase the fabrics manufactured in the mill. A small area of the mill was set up as a shop and was a great success. Sales soon expanded to the general public and within a year a new store was built across the street. Although fabric is no longer made across the street our Dorr signature line of fabric is still produced in the USA.

Our signature line originally came into being to meet the needs of rug hookers and braiders and we are proud of the depth and richness of these fabrics. This is one of the most extensive selections of solids wools you will find. We have 32 open-stock solids and four open-stock textures as well as twenty-one color families in our potpourri line of swatches each with six shades from light to dark for a total of another 126 colors. We offer many of the potpourri shades by the yard on a limited-edition basis. The fabrics are 100% wool and flannel weight (approx. 11 oz. per linear yard).

Textures

There are very few woolen mills left and we work diligently finding textured wools — heathers, plaids and fancies for your fabric needs. The majority of these fabrics are produced for the garment industry and we stock both domestic and imported fabrics to bring you a versatile selection. Many of the fabrics have unique qualities and characteristics to give your project its own special look and let your creative and adventuresome side emerge.

If you have trouble visualizing any of the samples on our web site let us know and we will send a small sample of the fabric to you.
